REMEMBER THE GOOD NEWS
How the Resurrection Reminds Us We’re Accepted, Forgiven, and Loved
By Chris Sarno
We’ve all had moments where we forget what we already know—where the chaos of life clouds the clarity of truth. That’s exactly what happened on Resurrection Sunday. The women came to the tomb expecting to find Jesus’ body. Instead, they found a rolled-away stone, empty grave clothes, and two angels reminding them of something they had forgotten:
“Why would you look for the living One in a tomb? He is not here, for he has risen! … Have you forgotten what He said to you?” (Luke 24:5–6 TPT)
And then, they remembered.
Today, we’re doing the same thing—remembering the Good News.
1. We Are Accepted Because of Jesus
Through the cross, we’re not just tolerated—we’re welcomed, approved, and embraced by God. Ephesians 1:5–7 tells us it was always God’s plan to adopt us as His children through Jesus.
Being accepted means our value doesn’t come from what we do, but from what Jesus has already done.
Romans 5 (MSG) breaks it down: One man’s sin separated us, but one man’s sacrifice—Jesus—restored us and brought us into life. That’s grace. That’s acceptance. That’s the Gospel.
2. We Are Forgiven Because of Jesus
Forgiveness isn’t something we earn—it’s something we receive.
Colossians 2:14 (TPT) says Jesus canceled every legal violation against us. He didn’t just cover it; He deleted it all. Your past is not your prison anymore.
Jesus didn’t stop at forgiving us—He also taught us to forgive others. In Matthew 18, He told a story about a servant who was forgiven a massive debt but refused to forgive someone else. The point? If we’ve been shown radical mercy, we’re called to show it too.
Forgiveness frees us—and empowers us to free others.
3. We Are Loved Because of Jesus
Love isn’t just something God feels—it’s something He proved.
“But Christ proved God’s passionate love for us by dying in our place while we were still lost...” (Romans 5:8 TPT)
The cross wasn’t a backup plan. It was the plan. Jesus didn’t wait for us to get it right—He loved us first, sacrificed for us first, and made peace with us through His death and resurrection.
If you ever doubt God’s love, just look at the cross. That’s where the question gets settled forever.
“It wasn’t nails that held Jesus to the cross—it was love.”
The Empty Tomb Still Speaks
Just like the women at the tomb, it’s easy to forget what Jesus has already said. But when we pause and remember, everything changes.
So today, remember:
You are accepted.
You are forgiven.
You are loved.
Not because of what you've done—but because of what Jesus did.
This is the Good News. And it still changes everything.
